Devlog #8 - Updated Demo! Progress Report! Game Trailer!
Hello moth stans!
We are coming LIVE straight from Moth Fried Games HQ with some FRESH HOT PIPING UPDATES to Moth Planet!
It's been a while since our last update (holiday break...) and we've been, as usual, hard at work on the final game! We are roughly 75% done with it, save when we discover a new bug, typo, or need to rebalance rooms (read: make them kill Robin less)!
So what's new in the game?
Well, for starters, we've been optimizing the HELL out of the game! Unfortunately, that also broke a lot of stuff, so there was a lot of BUG FIXING as well! We also replaced all of the doors in the game!! Even in the parts yall won't see until the full game!! Because the doors kept blocking light even after they were open!! So Robin was real mad about it!! But that's just usual game dev stuff.
Onward!
Caves are Open for Visitation!
We are pretty much done with the Cave region! It features new hazards, such as the spore mushrooms, and, as usual, more moths to talk and mysteries to find!
As Robin approaches the fabled ruins hidden away at the end of this cave, what will they find? We'll keep that a mystery for the final release ;)
More Story! Real Pictures of Moths!
We've been working on making the game's story a bit more engaging. So we've scattered a few story moments across the game, mini cutscenes, in a way! We still want you to piece together the mystery and the lore of Lycosina, so keep exploring and talking to every moth you find!
Along with that, players will be able to see special illustrations photos every time Robin takes a picture of a landmark! Ain't that neat!
Features Trailer and Updated Demo!
As part of our effort to get Moth Planet out there, we're submitting the game to BIG Festival, which will take place in gamescom latam this year! If we're selected, you'll be able to play the game during the event! We'll keep yall posted!
Regardless, to finalize the submission, we've updated and polished our beta demo, turning it into our FINAL DEMO (which you can download and play right now!). It features the same progression as the beta demo, if you've played it, but with new bug fixes, QoL changes, cutscenes, and optimizations!
Alongside the festival submission, we have made a features trailer for the game, which showcases what our game is all about! Enjoy ~
That's all for now!
Thanks to everyone who's been supporting development, reading these devlogs, and playing our latest builds! We want to be able to release Moth Planet as soon as possible, it's the last stretch of the race now!
XOXO
